12" x 12" x 2" | Acrylic on Board
My little family was traipsing around a Botanical Garden in Oregon (our new favorite venue for the photographers and artists in our midst) when I came upon this sweet dahlia. It was so soft looking, but yet purposeful.
Around the same time, I had been experimenting with making smaller dots with paint pens. They are essentially fancy "markers", but you can customize the color, use archival quality paint and choose the size tip you'd like. The result has been a very serene effect that has had many of my fellow artists stopping by the studio to admire these smaller pieces.
The resulting painting makes me think of the triangle pose in yoga. If you are in proper alignment, you can let go of your tensions and find ease... yet stay strong and supported like the dahlia.
