American, b. 1968

Inspired by nature, Rebecca Bangs is known for her bold, confident pointillism paintings.  Studio visitors enjoy the uniqueness and happiness apparent in her works.  The modern acrylics snag attention from a distance and then enthrall the viewer up close with intricate color combinations. Aside from the meditative process of dabbing singular dots, she greatly enjoys the color interplay.  She says, “Seurat proposed colors aren’t singular; they exist based on what they are being compared to.  A red next to a warm yellow might look cool, but that same red next to a cool blue might look warm.  So then… what is red?  To discover with this comparison balancing act all over a canvas is fun and exciting.”
