For some time now I’ve been thinking about either abstracting my work or finding a way (or ways) to muss it up. In going through my cloud photo collection, I decided this could be a nice way of playing with movement and form. Taken out of context of the horizon line, these pieces can feel abstract even thought they are fairly realistic. Kind of how a color is only defined by what it is next too. Maybe clouds are only defined by the horizon.

Towards the end of this piece I was texting back and forth with my new minted college Freshman. He was loving this piece and loving the chance to give some input. This image was taken from one of our last family hikes before he headed out of town, and the name he chose seems fitting for our little slice of California.
